When God created us humans, he created us with His image and likeness, pure and good. But as sin and greed filled our hearts, we moved away from our intended creation. Our nature became greedy, and now it is a task for everyone to move away from greed and evil. Our old nature is greedy, but our new nature as children of God craves to be generous. Every waking moment we must strive to do good, have the desire to bring joy around us and keep on pursuing the just and good. As Christians, we all know that greed, evil and sin steals our goodness from us and moves us closers to the devil.
Just as there are many medications to combat various diseases, there are also medications to combat greed, evil and sin. Generosity is the medication for greed. If we are to be generous and live our lives looking for ways to be a blessing to others, then we won’t be greedy because there will be no place for it in our lives.
The more we do for others, the more we help our friends, the more we live a Christian life, the happier we will be. Instead of being greedy and going through the day trying to get more and more for ourselves, we always have another option: be generous, and our generosity will give hope and send up prayers of thanksgiving to God.
