The Sunday School of the St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church is a superb spiritual institution that distinguishes itself from others with its unique face and educational program.
Jesus said to his disciples:
Encourage the little children to come to me, do not hinder them, because to such belongs the Kingdom of God.
Mark 10:15
What we teach
In Sunday School, the Armenian child and youth will learn about the Bible, the Christian truths, the gospel teachings, the history of the Armenian church, its rituals, confessions and national church holidays, and saints, as well as the spiritual hymns and the heavenly prayers of our holy fathers.
In other words, Sunday school graduates, strengthened by faith and theology, enriched with literary knowledge, empowered with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Christian virtues, and armed with the strong character and healthy upbringing of Armenians, will throw themselves victoriously into the battle of life.
How we teach
Sunday School began in Glendale in the 1980s and continues today strong, carrying forward its activities with enthusiasm. We hold our lessons on Sunday mornings at 10:30 AM -12:30 PM, inside the youth center attached to the church, as a Classroom Section, in which all students participate collectively, or per Class Division, where we teach according to age.
We are grateful to all of our teachers and pay our respect to all of our parents, who have entrusted the religious duty and spiritual education of their lovely children to the care of our Sunday School.

Religious Textbooks
Mesrop Mashtots was the creator of the Armenian alphabet. The Armenian catholicos at the time, Sahak, with the agreement of the king, Vramshapuh, tasked Mashtots with creating a new Armenian alphabet. They established the first schools and used it to spread the light of the Gospel to the entire territory of Armenia, crafting the Armenian Golden Age.
To Mesrop we owe the preservation of the language and literature of Armenia; but for his work, the people would have been absorbed by the Persians and Syrians, and would have disappeared like so many nations of the East.

Hymns for Armenian Youth
When it comes to the education of our children, Babken Bishop:
Learning the book of stories and morals is not enough. It is necessary to teach the history of the Armenian Church, providing Christian knowledge about the church by learning hymns, rituals and other traditions.
This is why we teach our children to praise God with our traditional hymns and songs. Here is a sampling of them.
